A well-thought-out speech to restart a stained relationship. He is by far the smartest, most sincere and learned US president since Kennedy. It's a pity that his biggest task is to repair the damage of 8 years of blunders from the previous guy.

Problems Downloading Templates

If you have problems downloading the templates here, follow these instructions:

Download the XML file of the template that you want.
Open the XML file in a text editor, like WordPad or Notepad++.
Using the editor search function, find the text 'widget id'.
All the widget id texts have lines that look like this: 'example1' to 'example11', 'example2' to 'example 22', and so on.
Once you're done changing all the numbers in the widget id lines, save the template.
Then upload the template into your blog from the Layout > Edit HTML > Upload button.
You're done. Hopefully this works.

The idea is by changing the numbers to bigger numbers, you'll avoid having the widget numbers conflicted with the existing widgets with the same number.

We tried it ourselves and it worked! Good luck.

How to put an Embedded Comment Form?

Here's what an Embedded Comment Form looks like below your posts and other comments.

If you don't have it in your blog yet but want to put it in your blog, follow these instructions:

1. Sign in to your blog from the Blogger web: http://www.blogger.com/.

2. Make sure you set the Enable Post Pages to 'Yes' in the Settings > Archiving tab.

3. Go to Settings > Comments tab for your blog. Look for the Comment Form Placement and click the Embedded below post button. Then save your settings.

4. Go to Layout > Edit HTML and click Expand Widget Templates.

5. Search for this line in the code:

and below that line add the following line:

6. Save your template and you're done.

A British Channel 4 Documentary on Gaza

In this British Channel 4 News documentary, reporter Sandra Jordan investigated the miserable daily life condition for Palestinians living in Gaza under total occupation of the Israeli regime. Their story focused on detail events surrounding the deaths of an American peace activist Rachel Corrie who was deliberately crushed by an Israeli armored bulldozer and two British journalists who were directly shot at by Israeli soldiers. After the production of this documentary, Israeli government has made it more difficult and dangerous for journalists to uncover the real stories behind the misery and aggression in Gaza.

Understanding Gaza: The Israel-Palestine Conflict

The critical event in Gaza has prompted us to provide our readers a brief review of the Israel-Palestine conflict written by a world-renown expert in the Arab-Israel relations.

The writer of the article below is an Oxford University professor and has served in the Israeli army in the mid-1960s.

Excerpts from the article, published in The Guardian 7 January 2009:

I write as someone who served loyally in the Israeli army in the mid-1960s and who has never questioned the legitimacy of the state of Israel within its pre-1967 borders. What I utterly reject is the Zionist colonial project beyond the Green Line. The Israeli occupation of the West Bank and the Gaza Strip in the aftermath of the June 1967 war had very little to do with security and everything to do with territorial expansionism. The aim was to establish Greater Israel through permanent political, economic and military control over the Palestinian territories. And the result has been one of the most prolonged and brutal military occupations of modern times.

Four decades of Israeli control did incalculable damage to the economy of the Gaza Strip. With a large population of 1948 refugees crammed into a tiny strip of land, with no infrastructure or natural resources, Gaza's prospects were never bright. Gaza, however, is not simply a case of economic under-development but a uniquely cruel case of deliberate de-development. To use the Biblical phrase, Israel turned the people of Gaza into the hewers of wood and the drawers of water, into a source of cheap labour and a captive market for Israeli goods. The development of local industry was actively impeded so as to make it impossible for the Palestinians to end their subordination to Israel and to establish the economic underpinnings essential for real political independence.

This brief review of Israel's record over the past four decades makes it difficult to resist the conclusion that it has become a rogue state with "an utterly unscrupulous set of leaders". A rogue state habitually violates international law, possesses weapons of mass destruction and practises terrorism - the use of violence against civilians for political purposes. Israel fulfils all of these three criteria; the cap fits and it must wear it. Israel's real aim is not peaceful coexistence with its Palestinian neighbours but military domination. It keeps compounding the mistakes of the past with new and more disastrous ones. Politicians, like everyone else, are of course free to repeat the lies and mistakes of the past. But it is not mandatory to do so.

2. Simplified operation system for easy camera handling:
The PENTAX K-m features a newly designed control system, which positions most of buttons and levers on the camera’s grip side, making it easier for first-time digital SLR users stepping up from their compact models to operate the camera. What’s more, the functions of each button or lever are instantly displayed on the camera’s LCD monitor with a single press of the help button to facilitate camera operation — especially for those who are unfamiliar with digital SLR cameras.

3. PENTAX-original Shake Reduction mechanism for sharp, blur-free images:
The PENTAX K-m comes equipped with the PENTAX-developed SR (Shake Reduction) mechanism, which effectively reduces camera shake for sharp, blur-free images even under demanding shooting conditions — such as when using a telephoto lens, shooting in the dark or at night without supplementary flash illumination, or using extended exposures for sunset scenes. This innovative SR mechanism shifts the position of the image sensor vertically and horizontally at high speed using magnetic force, while adjusting the shifting speed in proportion to the amount of camera shake detected by a built-in sensor. It offers an outstanding compensation effect — up to the equivalent of approximately four shutter steps. As a result, it does not require special anti-shake lenses, and can be used with almost all existing PENTAX interchangeable lenses.

4. Comprehensive Dust Removal system with prevention, removal and confirmation devices:
The PENTAX K-m features the user-friendly DR (Dust Removal) system to prevent dust from appearing on captured images. Applied to the CCD image sensor surface (or low-pass filter) through the vapor deposition process of a fluorine compound, the PENTAX-original SP (Super Protect) coating effectively removes dust and stains from the surface. In the next step, dust that still remains on the surface will be shaken off when the SR system shifts the image sensor at high speed. Finally, the dust that is shaken off the image sensor will fall onto an adhesive sheet positioned at the bottom of the SR unit, eliminating any possibility of it returning to the image sensor surface. This DR system even offers a Dust Alert function, which allows the user to confirm the dust-adhesion status of the CCD in advance.

5. Auto Picture mode for automatic selection of optimum shooting mode:
The PENTAX-developed Auto Picture mode is programmed to automatically select the most appropriate shooting mode — from such choices as Portrait, Landscape and Macro — for a given subject. With the PENTAX K-m, this user-friendly mode is further upgraded, with automatic detection of situations requiring the Night Scene Portrait mode. Since all camera settings, including aperture, shutter speed, white balance, saturation, contrast and sharpness, are automatically adjusted by the camera for optimum results, the user can concentrate on image composition and shutter opportunity.

6. High-quality image:
The PENTAX K-m combines a large, high-performance CCD image sensor (23.5mm by 15.7mm) with the sophisticated PRIME (PENTAX Real Image Engine) as its imaging engine. With its approximately 10.2 effective megapixels, it produces beautiful, fine-detailed images with subtle gradations and delicate texture description. It also features a Custom Image function, which offers a choice of six finishing touches to help the user create intended images.

7. High-speed continuous shooting at approx. 3.5 frames per second:
The PENTAX K-m lets the user keep shooting images at the speed of approximately 3.5 frames per second (in the JPEG recording format), allowing the user to capture a sequence of a fast-moving subject with great ease.

8. High-precision 5-point AF system:
The PENTAX K-m incorporates a five-point wide-area AF system (SAFOX VIII with five cross-type sensors) to assure dependable, high-precision autofocusing. Using the five sensors positioned in a cross pattern over the image field (one in the middle, two at sides, and two at top and bottom), this system automatically and unfailingly selects the optimum sensor for a given subject. It also allows the user to fix the AF detection point at the middle sensor. Thanks to a thorough review of the AF algorithm, this AF system also offers improved autofocusing speed under poor-lighting conditions, in which conventional AF systems take longer to focus on the subject.

9. Auto sensitivity control up to ISO 3200:
The PENTAX K-m’s auto sensitivity control function automatically sets the optimum sensitivity between ISO 100 and ISO 3200, based on such data as the subject’s brightness level and the lens’ focal length. Since this function allows the user to take advantage of faster shutter speeds in poor lighting situations (such as indoor sports events and nighttime scenes), it helps the photographer to effectively reduce camera shake and subject shake and prevent blurred images.

10. Effective gradation compensation:
The PENTAX K-m’s dynamic-range expansion function allows the user to expand a dynamic range (or a range of gradation reproduction) to minimize white-washed areas in the image. On the other hand, its shadow compensation function minimizes pitch-black areas lacking details. Combined, they help the user to produce beautiful, rich-gradation images when shooting high-contrast subjects.

11. Large, easy-to-view 2.7-inch LCD monitor:
The PENTAX K-m features a large 2.7-inch color LCD monitor with approximately 230,000 dots on its back panel. This monitor’s wide-view design allows the photographer to check the on-screen image from approximately 170 degrees both vertically and horizontally. THIS BLOG UNDERWENT MAJOR RECONSTRUCTION... for the Nth time.

I was in a designing mood the entire week last week that is why my blogging frame of mind took a back seat for the moment. I was using the old blogger template since I signed up here [the one that is readily available when you create a blog account here] but I made a few customizations here and there as I learned the rope of html codes and their significance. Somehow I was able to do few drastic changes in the entire template lay-out [like changing the 2-column template to 3-column] through some helpful websites that give simple and easy tutorial lessons like Dummies’ Guide to Google Bloggers, Blogger Buster and Tips for New Bloggers. I also learned to design my own header and did a lot of them for my former school (5), my cousin (2) and my baby brother (4). And I added widgets left and right too.

Then, one day when I signed in to this blog the entire page was blank except for the blog title, the categories, the blog archives and the widget clock. I freaked out. I wasn’t able to find any of my posts. Then I checked my brother’s blog [which I am officially babysitting] and it has the same fate as mine. I freaked out some more.

So I googled… I googled more… and I googled hard. Then I found ourBLOGGERTemplate.com and found lots of FREE blogger templates. This is the best blogger template website that I've ever found in google. All the templates are cool and easy to install. It has tutorials on how you can customize the tamplates to your own style that will suit your personality and taste. They have tips that you can use to enhance and improve your lay-out.And they have updates on everything about blogger. In other words... ourBLOGGERtemplate.com rocks... to the max.

And so, I downloaded tons of templates [I have lots of blogs of my own and more adopted ones, remember?] and decided that it’s about time to make a change. Why not? Even Obama is calling for change, right? And I did. And this is the result of that drastic decision I made last week. It was painstaking but worth it. I single-handedly copied all the important data in notepad especially my friends’ blogroll [that task almost killed me] and re-installed them one by one. So, all of my 4 blogger accounts – a Carpenter's WIFE's tool box, My REFUGE, sa puso at isip and THIS ONE… had major facelifts courtesy of ourBLOGGERTemplate.com, now I need one myself… literally.

The purpose of this post is to officially enter Prometheus Aerospace in Our Blogger Template's Second Showcase Contest. I cannot say enough good things about Our Blogger Templates. When I decided to start blogging a few months ago, I had initially planned on adopting a WordPress format. What can I say except that for me, WordPress was a huge headache. It just was not the user-friendly platform I needed to succeed as a webmaster. Then, I decided to give Blogger a try and fell in love with its ease of use -- especially its visual layout and ability to customize fonts and colors. The main problem for me, at that point, was the lack of adequate 3-column templates. Enter Our Blogger Templates.
The day I found Our Blogger Template's site online was a blessed day indeed. Not only did they have a wonderful variety of templates in multiple formats (including 3-column), but their ability to be customized is top-rate. I especially like the fact that OBT has included variables for so many sections of the template. The simplicity of being able to modify the colors and fonts cannot be overstated, and this is a real time-saver that I appreciate -- especially since I am not that much of a whiz with HTML or CSS
I started out with one blog and now have eight full-time sites, and they ALL use templates from Our Blogger Templates! I have implemented the Fishing template on this site and some of my other sites because it works so seamlessly. After I am done customizing the colors, fonts and header images, each site has its own unique feel. This frees me to focus my time on content and not technical issues.
Further, Our Blogger Templates provides their templates for free! That's right, FREE! Having done design-work for Prometheus Aerospace's sister site, Headers Galore, I can appreciate how much thought, time and effort has gone into OBT's templates. How to install new templates without losing widgets?

It's frustrating to install a new template on your blog if you lose all your widgets. Here's how to avoid this problem and keep your old widgets on the blog when you install new templates. Don't worry, there's no coding involve. You just have to know where to copy and paste codes in your old template into your new template file.

1. Save your current template first
This is a must. Save the old one first just in case something screws up and you need to get back to the old template.

2. Use a text editor
Don't do any coding in the Blogger Editor; it's too easy to mess things up. Get a text editor to do any code tweaking on your computer. If you have no idea what to use, just use Notepad++. Download the latest Notepad++ Installer.exe file. It's free and it makes it easier for you to do your coding.

3. Open up the old and new template XML files in the text editor
Open them up because you'll need to copy some codes in the old template and paste them in the new template files. These codes that you'll copy and paste are basically the codes for your widgets. You don't have to understand what's going on inside the code; you just have to know where it is and what widget it is for.

4. Find out where the codes are located
Look at the image below. See the tag? Click on the image to make it larger. All the codes above this tag are mostly CSS, the type of code that controls the appearance (colors, fonts) of your blog. You don't need to copy/paste anything in this section.

The codes below the tag is the main XML code for your blog. Basically, it's the part that controls the layout (where the sidebars, widgets, headers are) and controls the data flow from Blogger into your blog. This is where all the codes for the widgets you want to save are located.

All your widgets are coded within the tag ... . All the tags must be located within the ... tag. The structure looks something like this:

The above is a sample code on how a widget code looks like in a template XML file. The main location of the widget is identified with the div id label. In this case, div id=sidebar-wrapper. Below the div id is the b:section tag. All widgets must be located within this b:section tag. You don't need to worry if you don't understand much about the div or b:section thingy. The important tag you have to know is the b:widget tag. Note that you can put as many widgets as you want inside the b:section tags.

Here's an actual example of a widget tag embedded inside a b:section tag. The location is sidebar-wrapper, meaning that the widget is placed inside one of the sidebars in the blog. The widget is an image widget, as you can see it being labeled id='Image1'.

The most important thing to note is that the widget code starts with the tag and closed with the tag. This is the single most important thing you have to know when copying/pasting later on.Remember also that the widget is placed after the tag and closed with the tag.

Here's another example. The widget is a Linklist widget. You don't have to know the codes inside the widget tag because you won't have to change anything in there.

5. Copy and paste the widgets into new template file
Identify all the widgets you want to keep in your blog after template installation. Locate their codes in the old template file. Remember, these are the codes within the tags and must be close properly with . Copy the codes for a widget that you want to keep and paste them in the new template file, within the tags at the location of your choice. Make sure the b:widget and b:section tags are closed properly.

If you don't know the div id location you want to paste them in, just put them in any div id, but must be inside a b:section tag. It'll then show up as a widget in the Layout > Page Elements page (as in the image below) and you can then drag and drop the widgets to any new location.

6. Upload the new template as your new blog layout
Once you've pasted all the widgets you want into your new template, upload the new template into your blog using the upload button shown below.

7. If not sure, test this technique on a test blog first
If you're not sure whether it'll work out okay, try it first in a test blog. Create a test blog with a few junk posts (lorem ipsum), create some widgets, and then try changing into new templates using the technique above. See if you can make it work.

Since I changed my blog layout from Blogger's free 2-column template to the current 3-column template, I was asked of how I got the template and all the details related to it. Well, I'm not a person who likes to keep secrets to herself, and life is too short to keep them anyways, so I'm going to let you know about a mayjah website, ok?

Ready? It's Our Blogger Templates, a website that provides high-quality and free templates for Blogger users (did I mentioned free?). I know there are so many websites out there that do the same thing. However, I've never seen any that gives such polished and customizable blog layouts like OBT. Before changing to the current layout, I wanted a 3-column template really really badly. However, Blogger does not provide a free one and most 3-column templates out there do not suit my taste (and you know I'm picky!)
OBT's Brooklyn is a very nice 3-column template that caught my eyes as it is a very gorgeous black-and-white layout. However, if you're reading my blog right now, does it look black-and-white to you?And I also bet you doubt if it's really Brooklyn at all! That's how much customizable this OBT template is: it allows me to stretch my creativity and the result is one colorful blog of mine :)

So the transformation went like this:
I found a blog banner and customized it (that was not simple, I spent a lot of time find the one!)
Then I installed Brooklyn template...
...and spent about 1/2 day customized the fonts, colors, etc...
Finally came the widgets and I was done!
The whole process took me about 2 days because I know zip about HTML and web designing. Also, i do not enjoy the idea of just slapping a pre-desinged template to my blog as I do not want it to look like the one I stumbled into. Blogs are your own selves projected online, you definitely do not want to look like the one who sits next to you. Moreover, if I can do it, you can too! So if you're thinking of doing a blog facelift, head straight to Our Blogger Templates and find a layout that suits your taste. I'm sure you will find one.

One last thing: I found out these guys are Malaysians, hello fellow South East Asians! Thanks for hooking me up with a wonderful layout, m'kay? Love you guys! Now go ahead and show case my blog, please!

I am new to the whole arena of web page design and management, and Our Blog Templates' free pre-designed templates made it easy for me to make this site (and my other sites) look great! If you do any blogging or website design, you should definitely check them out! The thing I like best about their Blogger templates is the ability to completely customize the colors and layout. We'll leave the showcasing posts as the most current posts for 3 days before posting something else. The 1st winner's post will get the top most position and the 2nd and 3rd winners will be posted below it.

What to do?
Here's how to join in the competition.

Make sure your blog looks great. We'd recommend that you create your own header image instead of the ones provided here to make it more personalized to your style. You can also further customize your blog templates from the Fonts and Colors Layout tab to show others how easy it is to customize templates by Ourblogtemplates.com. But most importantly, you have to make it look good. Placements of widgets/gadgets will also be taken into consideration in our selection (what we mean here is not to make them look too crowded).
Then, you have to write a post about Ourblogtemplates.com on your blog (whatever you can think of to get more people interested to visit us, obviously). Then, create a link (aka a backlink) in that post of yours to this showcase contest post at Ourblogtemplates.com. Your backlink in this post (that opens up a page about Ourblogtemplates.com in your blog) is basically your final submission to this competition.
That's it.

If the number of entries is small and the quality of blog designs and their review posts are not good enough, we may cut down the winners to 1 or 2 only.

How do we make the selections?
We'll basically look at 3 things:

Your overall blog design using the templates here - you can customize the fonts and colors further to make it look better. Again, your own header will make it more personalize and we'd like to see these templates used that way. We don't like to see blogs crowded with unneccessary gadgets or too much ads.
What your review is about Ourblogtemplates.com. Of course, the chances are better for words that sound good to our ears. You might want to say something about how you use the templates and customize them to your style.
Content - we don't actually care what you blog is about, as long as it's not inappropriate (what is appropriate is quite self-explanatory, so no need to elaborate on that).
Extra: We may pick one of our countrymen the Malaysian bloggers as one of our winners if they can submit great blogs to compete in. In this case, we'll put 4 blogs as winners. If you want to submit your blog as a Malaysian blogger, indicate in your post that you are one and your blog content should also have some proof that you are one.

* Since we only understand English, Malay (and Indonesian language for that matter), we only accept blogs submitted in these languages to check their suitability. Sure there are translator sites around, but it's too much of a hassle to translate everything and check them out.

What we'll write if you win?
If your blog is selected as one of the 3 winners, here's what we'll put in the showcasing post.
